About the SASSA SRD R350

SASSA Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is a South African government initiative that was introduced in 2020 to provide income support to people who are not eligible for other forms of social assistance, such as unemployment benefits or social grants. SASSA SRD R350 Grant Eligibility Criteria

You must meet the following eligibility criteria in order to be able to apply for a SASSA SRS grant;

• You must be a South African resident, a refugee and asylum seeker, or someone with a special permit holder in South Africa
• Your age should be between 18 to 60 years
• You should be unemployed
• You should not be receiving any kind of financial support from any official programs of the government
• Your financial means should be insufficient to meet the basic requirements of your living
• You should not be among those who are receiving the stipends from NSFAS
• You can only apply for the SASSA SRD grant if you are not eligible for UIF payment

How to apply for SASSA SRD Grant Online

You can apply for the SASSA SRD R350 grant online with the following guidelines;

1. Access the SASSA SRD Application Website
2. Type your mobile number
3. Click Send SMS
4. Your phone will send an OTP SMS. For a code, check your inbox.
5. Enter the received OTP code and proceed
6. Fill out the steps required by SASSA to continue the application process.

How to apply for the SASSA SRD grant on WhatsApp

1. Save the SASSA SRD contact on your phone 082 046 8553
2. Send a WhatsApp text saying Hello to this number
3. You will receive a response, reply with HELP
4. You will receive a list of options,  type 4 as a response and send
5. You will be directed to the Unathi Sassa platform
6. Reply with SRD
7. Specify if you are applying for yourself or for another person.
8. Send a message with your name, last name, and ID number.
9. You will receive a message on Whatsapp with directives for the next process
