Online Passport Application in Ghana. The Ghanaian Passport is one of the most important documents of every citizen. In the drive for government to promote digitization, the passport application process is now fully based online. Applicants are required to visit the Ghana.gov web portal to create an account and log in to apply for the Ghana passport online.

Online Passport Registration in Ghana

You can create an account on the Ghana passport application portal and apply for your Ghanaian passport online using the following guidelines;

• Visit the Ghana.gov web portal via www.ghana.gov.gh/oauth
• Click on the signup button at the top right corner
• Complete the registration form with your required details (Eg. Firstname, Lastname, Email, Phone number, etc.)
• Click on the continue button to proceed
• You will receive One Time Password (OPT) on your phone number provided during the registration
• Enter the OTP and hit Continue
• Click on Apply
• Search for the Passport Office
• Click on Apply
• You will be redirected to a different page to continue
• Click on Authorize to enable the application share your details with the Passport Application portal
• You will be redirected to the passport application platform to either Make a Payment or Verify your Voucher

You can log in to your passport application portal with the following guidelines;

• Visit the Ghana.gov web portal via www.ghana.gov.gh/oauth
• Click on the taps to select the login options (Login with Email or Login with phone)
• Enter your email/phone number and password
• Click on the login button
• Wait for the system to authenticate and redirect you to the dashboard
• Congratulations, you now have access to your passport account

What you need for your Ghana Online Passport Application

Below are the required documents you will need to apply for your Ghanaian passport online; 

• Birth Certificate(Proof of Ghanaian citizenship)
• Documents to support Identity such as Driver’s Licence, National ID card (Ghana Card)
  
• Proof of Profession (An introductory letter from your employer that is if you are currently employed, the organization’s name, and position. A student ID if you are currently in school. Homemakers/housewives and you are unemployed or in the non-formal sector of employment like mechanics, hairdressers seamstresses, traders, etc. do not need proof. Also if you are  Registered Business Owner or you are self-employed then you provide your business registration certificate as proof)

How to apply for your Ghana passport

Follow the steps below to register for your Ghana passport online;

Beginning of the Ghana Online Passport Application Form

1. Complete the form with your required details ( e.i First name, Last name, Email address, and Mobile Number )
2. Confirm whether you are completing the Ghana passport application form for yourself or on behalf of an applicant who can not read or write
3. Choose the type of Ghana passport application form you want to complete ( i.e First time applicant)
4. Click on Continue to go to the next part of your Ghana online passport application form

 Uploading Your Passport-sized Photograph

1. Select CHOOSE A FILE to add your passport-sized photograph to your Ghana online passport application form
2. Click on SAVE

 Personal Details Form Completion

1. Complete the Ghana passport application form with your required details (Note: it is advisable to enter every detail correctly )
2. Click on SAVE

Formal Education Form Completion

1. Confirm whether you have any form of formal education ( i.e YES or NO)
2. Complete the form for Educational Institution Details if you have selected YES
3. Click on SAVE

 Evidence of Citizenship Form Completion

1. Complete the form for Evidence of Citizenship form with the required details of your Father, Mother, and Grandparents
2. Click on SAVE

1. Complete the form for Guarantor with the required details (Note: The guarantor must be a relative but not your parents and the individual can not be a witness to you applying)
2. Click on SAVE

Witness Form Completion

1. Complete the form for your Witness (Someone who can confirm that all the details you have provided are accurate )  The same person CANNOT BE a Witness and a Guarantor to one application. Your Application will not be processed if you don’t comply with the guideline. Your application should be witnessed by a person in one of the following categories to whom you personally know: a Senior Clergyman/Woman; a Commissioned Officer of the Armed Forces (Captain and above); or persons of equivalent rank in the security services; a Senior Civil or Public Servant (Principal Executive Officer and above); a Registered Medical Practitioner; a Solicitor or Barrister; head of a Recognized Educational Institution or other recognized professionals registered with their respective regulating bodies.
2. Click on SAVE AND PREVIEW

Final Step: Sign Declaration Form

1. Click on SIGN DECLARATION if all the details you have provided are correct
2. Select (I have not previously held or applied for a passport of any description)
3. Click on the check box (I DECLARE)
4. Choose Save DECLARATION
5. Congratulations you have successfully applied for your online Ghana passport.
